The mushrooms are to die for! My guests raved about this i. I would propose cooking on low longer for more tender meat. Don't skip on the vino and butter!
07/03/2012
Excellent! Skipped the mushrooms and shallots because my husband doesn't like them. Worchestershire sauce stunk up the house horribly and I was afraid the brisket was going to be icky. But it could non have been better!! Incredibly tender and flavorful. Can't await to make it once again!

Wow! I followed the recipe exactly except I cooked it in a crock pot for 24 hours on low instead of a dutch oven and information technology was AMAZING! The sense of taste was sensational! The meat just melted in your mouth! It took some prep work but information technology was well worth it! My husband couldn't believe the brisket shrunk so much. It actually didn't that much. I grazed a bit when it was nearly washed. lol. This recipe is definitely a keeper! Give thanks y'all and so much for sharing!

OMG this was Amazing! I was beingness a cost-constructive shopper and bought a 12.18 pound Brisket - error! Had to brown it in the Dutch oven which was shut to impossible b/c it was then big. Simply we did it. I was afraid of using and then much Worcestershire. Information technology merely felt weird to dump so much in but I followed the recipe to the T. Double of class. OMGoodness! It was amazing. Falling apart when we tried to cut information technology or motion it so nosotros just lifted the rack and hoped it didn't fall apart completely. Success. It was ridiculous. Give thanks goodness I used a ton of mushrooms and 2 large shallots b/c the mushroom mixture is soooo yummy. Tin can't rave plenty. Will purchase a smaller one next fourth dimension. Thank goodness I had a huge Dutch oven or nosotros would take been in trouble. The Au Jus is also amazing. Saved a big portion and skimmed off the fat this AM and you don't need to practice annihilation to information technology but drizzle over the meat and your homemade mashed potatoes (just of course) 10 thumbs up. My new staple. I accept no doubtfulness it will exist a hitting at a political party. The only change is - I used butter. I don't know when I last bought margarine more than 20 years ago for sure. Cheers for the GREAT recipe!

This is better then anything I accept had.

I used this recipe with a dull cooker instead of a dutch oven. It turned out keen. Instead of a 5lb beef brisket, I bought ane that was around ii.5 lb and halved all the ingredients. I prepare the slow cooker to low and cooked it for 6 hours. Great recipe. Thanks.

made this in the crock pot for passover and it was across delicious. i followed everything to the alphabetic character except omitted the cayenne pepper. after i sauteed the mushroom and shallots, used the same pan to sear and brown the meat, 5 min per side as suggested adding the worcester sauce. put the meat into the crock pot and then added the remaining liquid ingredients and boiled this downwards to near half of what i started with. (got scared when i tasted this and plant information technology to exist really spicy! not to fear, though, the terminal product wasn't spicy at all) i added this liquid to the meat in the crockpot, topped information technology with the mushrooms and butter/margarine and set up the meat on depression and cooked for 10-11 hours. it was stunningly simple and then delicious that everyone took seconds and thirds.

Wow, I just pulled this out of the oven and took my get-go seize with teeth, and couldn't fifty-fifty expect until afterward dinner to write my review. This brisket is the about delicious, perfectly seasoned, tender and sensational beef recipe I think a I have ever cooked. I used butter instead of margarine, and had no wine, so was forced to use grape juice instead, and it still turned out remarkable. There'south no need to think twice before trying this recipe - information technology's fantastic!

Absolutely wonderful! I was looking for a proficient brisket recipe, and then far, this one definitely takes the cake! The kick from the cayenne fabricated the meat just a hint spicy, which I prefer, and the mushrooms and onions were admittedly fabulous with the meat. I ended up making a little likewise much sauce, so instead of drippings, I had more than like a bit of soup. Turned it into homemade gravy, and it was and so adept over potatoes and with the meat! I will definitely exist making this one again.
09/19/2012
Too salty, and besides much cayenne for my family. It was SUPER tender and moist though. I might try it again, but will definitely need to tweak the recipe.

Perfect savory brisket. I used extra mushrooms and shallots and whisked some of the cooking broth with tomato sauce for a more clingy topping. Served with roasted potatoes and french cut green beans - amazing.

Amazing amazing amazing!!! Like shooting fish in a barrel to fix and probably the most delicious taste ever. Put near double the amount of onions and mushrooms in the second time we cooked it as they were so succulent .highly highly recommend...
03/29/2015
This dish was so succulent that I am compelled to write my first review afterward many years of enjoying the recipes from allrecipes.com Some friends of mine were talking almost cooking a brisket and so I idea I would try one as well. One of the things that surprised me was the 5 hour cooking time! I followed the recipe pretty much as is, merely substituted onion for the shallots and used bouillon cubes for the beef broth. Equally others suggested, I served it with mashed potatoes and steamed green beans - the sauce was a perfect complement.
12/27/2014
This was a fantastic recipe - used information technology for Christmas Solar day! Nosotros cooked information technology in the slow cooker for 14 hours and it was soft, autumn autonomously, tasty goodness! Omitted the mushrooms and shallots as people who don't like them and information technology was Still amazing! Highly recommend a try! We also left the spice mix on for a few hours to sink into the encounter instead of calculation directly away and cooking - flavoursome and delicious! Tin't look to cook it again with the mushrooms and shallots - corking recipe!

This recipe is awesome. I've fabricated it a few times and it's always practiced. If you don't want as much spice kick down the cayenne some. I have likewise added bell pepper in there in one case mainly because I needed to apply it before information technology went bad and it tastes simply every bit skillful. If you don't have cerise wine use 2TBSP carmine wine vinegar. And you should however take enough liquid. If not utilize a little bit of x-tra broth or water.

This will now exist my go to recipe for brisket. Very skillful! I was worried about the amount of Worcestershire in the recipe, but I stuck to what information technology called for and it came out neat. I would recommend this recipe to anyone and would not modify a affair. The hardest part virtually making this recipe is smelling information technology all solar day and not excavation into information technology before it is washed!
01/21/2015
This is a slap-up repast for company! And the mushroom gravy is fantastic. It makes a lot of gravy, so I froze the leftover and used it for hot roast beef sandwiches and several other things. My daughter-in-law asked for the recipe, and anybody loved it. This is definitely a keeper.
10/07/2012
This was fun to make and nosotros loved smelling it cooking all afternoon! I made a 3 lb. brisket and it was a little dry. I had to employ foil to cover it so maybe that is why. The juice was amazing and I will brand information technology again! Maybe I tin cook information technology longer at a lower temperature to get the moist result I was hoping for. Served it with roasted rosemary potatoes on the grill, peas and french bread.

Like shooting fish in a barrel to brand, then tender it falls apart on your plate!! Actual flavor of the meat was a fiddling bland, but that may be the cut, or that this is the get-go time I've e'er cooked a brisket! Will definitely make over again for next Hanukkah. Husband and babies loved information technology!!
11/14/2013
I liked the flavors a lot, and the cayenne spiced it up simply right, but did think information technology was too salty --- I will probably cut the table salt in one-half at least, mayhap more. Otherwise the meat came out great --- moist and really flavorful. Will definitely try again!
04/xiii/2015
Everyone thought this was fashion also over seasoned.
08/31/2015
Crawly! I was tight on time so I skipped using the rack. Next time I may cutting back on the cayenne pepper for the kids, although my husband loved it the fashion information technology was. Definitely putting this one in the rotation!
03/21/2018
The taste of the juice it's cooked in is surprisingly flavorful. Information technology'due south just me and my boyfriend here so I used a 3lb beef brisket which was good enough for united states of america and left over for the side by side day! I felt information technology would need a few tweaks so this is how I changed information technology and it was perfect for u.s.a.: extra garlic gloves! I felt ane clove for all of that meat wasn't enough season so I added 2 more than and minced it. I omitted the cayenne since my bf hates spice. I did not add the unabridged 16oz beef broth since I was cooking less meat. I added a whole extra box of mushrooms. Mushrooms wilt and disappear so if you like mushrooms and would like to have some with your meat, I strongly suggest you to add mode more mushrooms!

My hubby and I accept never cooked a brisket before and used this recipe for a Friendsgiving Party where we hosted for a grouping of 20. We bought an xi.5 lb brisket that I halved. We doubled the recipe except for the Cayenne for people who could be sensitive to spice. We cooked it in two ho-hum cookers for ix hours using the terminal half 60 minutes to let the brisket residuum while we thickened the sauce for the gravy........WOWZA! It was truly a estrus!!! The meat was really good and tender, and the gravy was crawly. Give thanks you for sharing this recipe. Nosotros would definitely brand information technology once again!
07/03/2015
I followed the recipe except I used a 3lb brisket, and cooked it in the crock pot for 9 hours. It was tender, and delicious!
x/21/2018
The beef was spectacular. Hubby and I both agreed that it was the all-time brisket nosotros'd ever had. I personally though the mushrooms had too much Worcestershire flavor. Next time, I'll cook them separately and add them at the end. I was a bit nervous well-nigh all that Worcestershire sauce, equally most recipes barely telephone call for a tsp, and this i was using an unabridged bottle, simply on the beef, it was truly amazing. I tin can't look to make it again.
09/xiii/2016
No changes, merely a bit too spicy. Next time I volition cut back on the cayenne pepper. I will try it once more.
11/26/2016
I'll make it again. Information technology was excellent. volition utilize less worchester and substitute 1 cup assuming coffee with one of the 4 cups beef goop.
06/11/2019
I am surprised this recipe does not accept more reviews because it's vivid. We loved it and I will brand it once more next week. But I fabricated some changes and will brand farther changes next time. First I used a normal oven proof dish with foil and information technology worked great. 2d, I reduced the common salt to less than half the amount. Next time, the sauce is just too much for me so I think it's enough with one-half the sauce corporeality for the 5 pounds of meat and I won't put any Cayenne considering i dont recollect the recipe needs the estrus from information technology. ANyway in general it was a great recipe, thank you a lot :)

I plan to brand this recipe for 15 people coming to Easter dinner. We followed the recipe to a T, except we omitted the ceyene pepper and didn't use a rack. Oh, I also thickened the sauce with four Tbsp of cornstarch. The sauce nearly covered the five lbs. roast when we put information technology in the oven. The roast finished an hour early. Information technology was too spicy for our family unit. My married man wouldn't touch on the gravy because of the spice. I am going to try skipping the pepper and watering downwardly the Lea & Perrins. Otherwise, information technology was incredibly moist and tender; truly we pulled information technology apart with a fork. The mushrooms were amazing.
01/23/2019
Offset fourth dimension around I followed the recipe to a T except that I halved it for a 2.5 lb brisket and used a crockpot on low for vii hours. The beef came out fabulously, but the vegetables absorbed far besides much of the Worcestershire-heavy sauce and were subsumed by it disagreeably. As there volition definitely be a next time, I will adjust the corporeality Worcestershire for the beef and sauté the mushrooms by themselves. The results of this recipe were largely equally expert as I had hoped, nonetheless. Glad I came across it.
01/22/2017
I made this for a rainy day Sunday brunch and it turned out amazing! I made it in the crock pot (10 hours on depression), rather than the oven and I added a bit more garlic every bit nosotros like garlic a lot. Nosotros couldn't get enough of this brisquet! Truly finger licking skillful.
03/01/2020
This was soooo proficient! I followed the recipe except cut everything in half, equally my brisket was only 2.v lbs. instead of the oven, I used a crockpot and it was smashing! The simply thing I volition change adjacent time is cutting down the amount of hot spice! I will definitely keep this recipe!
07/23/2018
I didn't take any mushrooms or shallots at the time then I skipped the mushrooms altogether and substituted yellow onion for the shallots. I as well used a crock pot for roasting. The results were outstanding and I will definitely make again.
09/18/2020
The only thing I did different was eliminated the mushrooms. Starting time time making brisket and it was delicious.
04/19/2021
But removed mushrooms, recipe was very skilful!
12/30/2021
No substitutions except ruby onion for shallots. Halved the recipe so I cut cooking time by about an hour. Served company-everyone idea it was delicious. Had noodles & carrots on the side.
06/23/2021
I smoke brisket on my Large Greenish Egg and thought this was the only way to cook brisket. I tried this recipe with very little expectations. Male child was I wrong. This was outstanding and now I prefer this to smoking it on the grill, which seems then wrong! The just thing different that I did was utilize a smaller cut of brisket (3lbs) cause it fit in my Dutch oven better. And marinating the meat with liquid smoke and Worcestershire sauce and then putting rub on it. I so put it in fridge over nighttime before cooking information technology. Fifty-fifty though I used smaller cut of meat, I notwithstanding cooked it the same amount of time recommended in recipe. Even my neighbors said that was the all-time brisket they take ever tasted!

The best!!!
11/22/2018
Make information technology for every gathering and it'southward the outset thing gone. This year I'm making a 30lbs brisket.
06/01/2016
followed exactly, did sense of taste really good just as well much sauce and it needed to exist thickened. my pan was too shallow and some sauce spilled over into the oven2.5 inch lip. Even with that there still was tone of sauce.
06/18/2016
This came out really good the way I made it merely this recipe, as it is, is non cracking. I recommend real butter or bacon grease.
05/05/2016
I am actually planning on making this tonight and had a question - if I don't have a rack to put in my Dutch oven, would this be ok if the meat sat in the sauce? Since a lot of people have cooked it in a slow cooker, I assume it wuld piece of work but wanted to see if anyone else has cooked it in the oven with the meat inside the pot, with all the other ingredients. Thanks!
01/28/2018
I made this recipe; showtime fourth dimension cooking a brisket! Information technology came out then juicy and tender! Used a pre-packaged gravy mix, dried onion flakes and fresh mushrooms. It was spectacular! Will definitely brand this once more & once more & again!
04/06/2021
For those that say this is not spicy exercise not think of spicy on the same pages as me. I didn't use cayenne pepper and information technology was very spicy. The season was skilful, simply as well much spice.
01/01/2022
Nosotros had a iii# chuck shoulder. We used a cast iron for the entire recipe, cut everything in one-half except for some spices we reduced a picayune more than. We watched the cooking temp and time to lucifer the size of the roast. Only reason we did not give 5 stars is because of our personal preference for less cayenne. And then then easy. Make a cheaper cut of meat delicious!
